One of the stars of the TruTV comedy series “Impractical Jokers” is taking the literary world by storm – and he may very well soon be involved with another TV series, albeit very different from his current show.

James “Murr” Murray – who stars in “Impractical Jokers” along with Joseph "Joe" Gatto, Brian "Q" Quinn, and Salvatore "Sal" Vulcano – has a new thriller book out, “Awakened,” which he wrote with veteran sci-fi and horror writer Darren Wearmouth.

Now, the book appears to be heading to the small screen.

“I wrote I as a TV series,” Murray told “The Trend With Rebecca Granet” Thursday. “It reads like a TV series or movie. When I wrote it, I always intended to pitch it as a TV series or movie. With that in mind, the first thing I did when I sold it to Harper Collins was to immediately go out and pitch it as a TV show, as well to production companies.”

He added, “So we sold it to IDW comics, and we pitch it in a few weeks as a TV series. We wanted to wait until the book came out and became a bestseller.”

Murray said that it helped that he’s worked in TV development for the past 12 years.

So would Murray like to see star in the small screen adaptation of his book?

“For the lead, it’s going to be either me or Hugh Jackman,” he said, laughing.
