Dean DeVore

4am - 11am

Meteorologist

Dean DeVore has been on part 1010WINS weekday morning team since 2008.

Born in Millersville, PA, his interest in weather began at an early age, loving snowstorms and thunderstorms. Dean also had an early love of broadcasting, especially radio.  He would hide a transistor radio under his pillow at night so he could listen to many of the great radio stations he’s fortunate enough to broadcast on today.

That broadcasting career received an early jump start in 4th grade, as his teacher encouraged him to give a daily weather forecast to his class on a homemade weather map each morning.  His early weather influences were the AccuWeather meteorologists he heard on radio stations around the region, and watching Jim O’Brien bring the company’s forecast to life on WPVI, ABC6 in Philadelphia.

Dean actually began his broadcasting career 30 years ago, working for radio stations in State College, PA, with duties centered on sports broadcasting for many Penn State and local high school sports.

When AccuWeather hired Dean back in 1998, he and the company worked together to help Dean realize his early dream, and become a broadcast meteorologist relating the AccuWeather forecast on many of the nation’s great radio stations by combining an earlier Penn State degree with a certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State. After filling in for several years, Dean was honored to take over Dr. Joe Sobel’s weekday  place on New York’s Weather Station, 1010WINS back in 2008.

Dean continues to be active in sports announcing for Penn State, and has been the voice of Beaver Stadium for Penn State football since 2000, and continues doing public address announcing and radio play-by-play for Penn State women’s and men’s volleyball programs, Penn State Men’s Lacrosse, and Penn State Men’s Gymnastics and other programs. And, he is a proud alumni, and the announcing voice of the Penn State Marching Blue Band.
