A Tennessee family was given a special surprise during their annual Easter egg hunt.

Three years ago, family matriarch Doris Smith passed away, leaving behind a loving family spread across the United States and a beloved tradition in her hometown of Chattanooga.

Coming from all corners, Doris' extended family gathers each year for the special event that she used to host to honor her memory and continue to bring the community together the same way she had. This year, the family also gave away two bikes in honor of Doris' giving nature.

Christina Howard told local station WDEF that her mother "sacrificed everything for us as well as other people at all times -- she collected canned goods for the holidays and took them to the church to give them to the homeless. She was always giving and the thing about it is… she always gave more than she had."

During the egg hunt, police officers who were invited to the celebration took a break from hiding eggs for the kids and challenged some residents to a dance-off!

This is just one of the many ways the Smith family, and the community who loved her, will be celebrating her life and goodwill for years to come.
