NEW YORK (1010WINS) 1010 WINS has teamed up with Animal Care Centers of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable #Boroughbreds looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and, where ACC's mobile adoption units are headed with even more great pets.

This week, we're featuring  Zena, Big Dipper and Groucho:

Zena (47188) An ACC volunteer writes: "Zena is an incredibly sweet and friendly girl. When I gave her cheek rubs, she positioned her face right into my hands, then lowered her head as if wanting to make sure she got the full effect of this oh-so-soothing face massage. She loves attention, but minded her manners as I petted her by politely and calmly standing there with her tail wagging and a big doggie smile on her face. But when I crouched down, she must have said, "Oh the heck with it!" and jumped up and licked my face. Another time, she bowed down and went into play position...good thing I had a toy because she LOVES to play! Zena is a high-energy girl, but also knows the commands "sit" and "come". She got along well with the cat she used to live with and seems to like other dogs. If you'd like to meet this sweet, lovely girl, come on down to the Brooklyn ACC shelter where she's patiently awaiting her forever home.” Available for adoption at Brooklyn ACC: 2336 Linden Blvd, Brooklyn.

Groucho (48161) An ACC staff member writes: "I took one look at this cat and said we have to name him Groucho! That mustache is too much! Groucho is a very talkative and friendly cat. He loves to play with his cat toys. He also loves to be pet. Groucho is affectionate and very sweet. He is located at our Staten Island Center, so why not come by and meet this happy cat today." Available for adoption at Staten Island ACC: 3139 Veterans Road West, Staten Island.

Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. ACC’s  three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12pm-8pm Monday thru Friday, and 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Big Dipper (44624) An ACC volunteer writes: "Come they told me - pa rum pum pum pum- a new born king to see - pa rum pum pum pum- I played my drum for him pa rum pum pum pum - I played my best for him - par rum pum pum pum ...... and then? Big Dipper smiled at me. Big Dipper came to us as a stray with some serious wounds. His wounds have been healing up nicely and while that is super important, more importantly Big Dipper is showing what a lovable king of a bunny he truly his. Big Dipper adores cardboard boxes for him to sit in and look at the world. He has a little reverse drive-through window at the side of his box, where you are welcome to drive through with a treat or other gift for him that is fit for a bunny king. Big Dipper is a little bit on the shy side, but that makes it even more rewarding to see him smile once he knows you are a friend and trusts you. Big Dipper would likely do best in a quiet adult-only home with human friends who will play the love drums for him every day. He will reward you with his best bunny smile and little happy hops and binkies."  Available for adoption at Brooklyn ACC: 2336 Linden Blvd, Brooklyn.
