New York (1010WINS) 1010 WINS has teamed up with Animal Care Centers of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable #Boroughbreds looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and, where ACC's mobile adoption units are headed with even more great pets.

This week, we're featuring Star, Snowy and Lord Farquaad:

Lord Farquaad (39660) A volunteer writes: "Lord Farquaad lets me know right away that he is a good guy! His eyes are gentle, his tail is wagging, and he comes with poise to his door as I wave liver treats in front of him. We should have called him Shrek instead of Lord Farquaad! LD is a sweetheart leaning into his caretaker for caresses and hugs. His face is beaming with a big smile, so happy he is to be in company. He even gives little licks on our hands. He comes when called, sits upon request and takes treats so gently. Lord Farquaad is a handsome lad, a tad chunky, a Rottweiler with a tail and dressed in a thick coat with attractive markings giving him a gentle look. He is a slow walker in the scorching heat and prefers to hang around us. He inquires politely and with a wagging tail when a puppy appears in the adjacent pen. Let's make friends! He is well mannered in our playgroups with the ladies. One might get mightily impressed seeing a big boy like Lord Farquaad in a kennel, but he is a gentle giant who just wants to be your friend...for ever. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center.” Available for adoption at Manhattan ACC: 326 East 110th Street.

Star (39126) A volunteer writes: Star is a full figured gal with a lot of love to give. Star loves to be loved and brushed, and she is gentle when she plays. Star is a wonderful companion for both playtime and cuddle time. This sweet girl is curious and wants to explore, though she can get distracted by toys and affection. She gives headbutts, loves cheek scratches, and has the cutest little chirping meow. Available for adoption at Brooklyn ACC: 2336 Linden Boulevard, Brooklyn

Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. ACC’s  three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12pm-8pm Monday thru Friday, and 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Snowy  (28598) A volunteer writes: "Snowy is a New Zealand White female with a very large body and an equally outsized personality! This girl gets very excited as soon as she detects your presence -- she'll stare at you eagerly and shove her nose through the cage bars to get your attention. She's very mighty as well as frisky, and may lunge out of enthusiasm, so it can be a challenge to calm her down to the point where you can relax together. However, if you can finagle a way to start stroking her head, she'll succumb very quickly to petting and will tooth-purr contentedly. Snowy's ginormous ears suggest that she could be younger than her officially-posted age and may even grow bit bigger. In any case, she's a handful of rabbit and is probably best suited to an experienced bunny home.” Available for adoption at Manhattan ACC: 326 East 110th Street.
