NEW YORK (1010WINS) 1010 WINS has teamed up with Animal Care Centers of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable #Boroughbreds looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and, where ACC's mobile adoption units are headed with even more great pets.

This week, we're featuring Lighning, Plum and Oreo.

Lightning (64767) An ACC Volunteer writes: “ ightning has that wonderful mixture of being big, outgoing, and energetic...yet sweet, gentle, and loving! He enjoys going for walks (and moves more briskly than you'd expect for a middle-aged boy), and gets all wiggly and waggly when I scratch his back and rub his chin, even leaning into me (which I absolutely love!). Lightning's a big ol' softie, too -- being relaxed and respectful with the children and cat he lived with in his previous home, and with other dogs he was around. As if that's not impressive enough, he's reported to be housebroken, takes treats politely, and knows the cues "sit", "come", "down", and "give paw"...not to mention being a really handsome boy! This little love-bug has become a favorite with staff and volunteers alike and I'm sure he'll become a favorite with you, too, so come and meet him at the Brooklyn ACC shelter where he's excitedly awaiting his fur-ever home!" Available for adoption at Brooklyn ACC: 2336 Linden Blvd, Brooklyn.

Plum (67270) A volunteer writes: "This is a plum assignment, to write about sweet, curious, graceful Plum. He is a real lap cat, very people oriented. Show him some affection and he will reward you with joyous head butts and very notably purring. Come to Brooklyn ACC and adopt this lovely fellow!” Available for adoption at Brooklyn ACC: 2336 Linden Blvd, Brooklyn.

Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. ACC’s  three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12pm-8pm Monday thru Friday, and 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Oreo (67581) An ACC volunteer writes: "Princess Oreo has an ear-resistable bunny charm waiting for a new human to love at the Care Center in Brooklyn. I asked her if she was a model as she wears her mascara with such style! She just giggled and answered that right now, she is a model, but a super-sized one. She has a point there as she is a bit chubby, though that is nothing that a good diet and appropriate bunny exercise could not fix. Oreo likes silly games and is a gem on the turntable. She is also extremely friendly and enjoys pets. If you are looking for a princess to share your salad with, Oreo is your girl! And the best thing is, she will give you free styling and make up-advice too!” Available for adoption at Brooklyn ACC: 2336 Linden Blvd, Brooklyn
