New York (1010WINS) 1010 WINS has teamed up with Animal Care Centers of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable #Boroughbreds looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and, where ACC's mobile adoption units are headed with even more great pets.

Plus, this weekend it's another Clear The Shelters event with waived adoption fees for ALL the animals!

This week, we're featuring Buddha, Dora and Boysenberry:

Buddha (37919) An ACC Volunteer writes: “ Buddha's wise namesake is quoted as saying 'happiness never decreases by being shared' and this tiny treasure makes you want to offer him all the happiness in the world, anything to bring a smile back to that adorably worried face. Eight years young, beautifully cared for and in excellent health, his former owner described him as 'friendly, outgoing, playful' and a total gentleman when interacting with everyone from strangers to children to his fellow dogs. Having lived in the same home since puppyhood, Buddha is finding the adjustment to Care Center life a little tough, but he comforts himself by softly snuggling with volunteer friends, enjoying his walks with a wagging tail and just continuing to act like the same good-hearted honey he's always been. He's said to be relaxed, playful and respectful of other pups, he knows commands for sit and give paw and his leash manners and house training are top-notch too. Buddha's simply a dream date for any occasion, and having totally aced his behavior assessment, he's ready to head home with a loving new family today, smiling all the way.” Available for adoption at Manhattan ACC: 326 East 110th Street (between 1st and 2nd Aves.) New York, NY 10029.

Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. ACC’s  three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12pm-8pm Monday thru Friday, and 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Dora (35766) A volunteer writes: “Dora is delightful. When I saw her she was reserved but as soon as I approached her kennel I was mesmerized. She has such a beautiful face. She just melted my heart with her sweet hugs and purring. She is ready to love and be loved. She is a friendly and adorable girl that will make a wonderful addition to her new family or friend.” Available for adoption at Brooklyn ACC: 2336 Linden Blvd, Brooklyn, NY 11208.

If you’re interested in one of the animals featured here, email ACC’s Adoption team at adopt@nycacc.org with the animal’s name and "A#", or head directly to the Care Center where the animal is located. Please note, animals featured here may already be placed by the time you arrive, but there are hundreds of great cats, dogs, and rabbits looking for loving homes every day! You can view available animals online, and at the Care Centers, ACC Adoption Counselors will help you find the best match.

Boysenberry (35785) A volunteer writes: "Boysenberry is a small- to medium-sized female dwarf mix. This sweetie has a dark agouti coat and a fluffy dewlap that's quite large for a petite girl. When you pet her, she turns herself into a football, tucking her head into her dewlap so half of it disappears! Boysenberry isn't super extroverted or assertive. She likes the safety of a corner of her cage and remains a bit wary even as she is enjoying affection. For these reasons, she would do best in a quiet home.” Available for adoption at Manhattan ACC: 326 East 110th Street (between 1st and 2nd Aves.) New York, NY 10029.

To adopt an animal, you must have a valid photo ID, be 18 years of age or older, and bring proof of current address. ACC adoptions include vaccinations, spay/neuter, a pre-registered microchip, an identification tag, a collar, and a certificate for a free initial exam at a participating veterinarian.
