The Clewiston Police Department in southwest Florida received an interesting call about an animal loose on the highway last week.

When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a miniature pony which had escaped from its pasture.

While handcuffs certainly wouldn't work on the runaway -- they were eventually able to safely get the horse back to its owners -- as well as the other horses in the paddock who galloped up to the fence to welcome him home.

The department posted a video on Facebook showing the unique way they were able to corral and eventually lead the animal back into its enclosure, also explaining how the pony "was processed for Fleeing to Elude an officer... After interviewing the pony, he was released as he was just trying to train for a future marathon."

The department also thanked their resident 'pony whisperer,' Officer McLeod, and members of the community for supplying them with carrots.
