Paging Dr. Mike, there's a sloth in exam room one!

Staff at the Chicago Zoological Society's Brookfield Zoo had an interesting time giving their newest animal a wellness check-up.

The two-toed sloth Lawrence got a full health exam from the facility's veterinary team to make sure he was well enough to introduce to his fellow sloths and soon-to-be new friends.

Not only was the checkup a necessary step for Lawrence at his new home, the experience also gives the zoo's veterinary staff a chance to get an up close (and inside) look at quite a unique animal -- from its sharp claws which have adapted to allow it to grip onto tree limbs high in the jungle canopy for days or weeks at a time to the special digestive system the animal has which breaks down the various plant matter it eats in numerous chambers within its stomach.

Thankfully all was okay with Lawrence and the three-year-old sloth is ready to move into his new habitat.

We’re sure little Larry will get moving -- right after a quick nap!
