The zebra was allegedly shot and killed by its owner who did not have a license to own the animal.

Neighbors told WTLV-TV that the owner cornered the injured zebra and shot it as authorities responded to the scene.

Wildlife officials didn't name the owner, but said he did not have a valid captive wildlife license.

Authorities did not find any other animals on the property, and are trying to figure out how the animal escaped.
