YONKERS (1010 WINS) – A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured in a shooting in Yonkers early Sunday, and police are searching for two gunmen behind the attack.

The boy was with a group of people outside a building at 73-83 Highland Ave. shortly before 2 a.m., when the two men pulled up in a vehicle and got out.

The men each fired a shot towards the group, hitting the 12-year-old once in the neck, police said. They then took off in the vehicle.

The boy was rushed to a trauma center, where he was taken into emergency surgery and listed in serious but stable condition.

Police were investigating at the scene Sunday morning.

A motive is not yet known, but police said they're putting all their resources into finding those responsible.

Neighbors were shocked to hear about the brazen shooting and said it's normally safe in the area.

“That is horrible. Whoever did it, they need to catch them and get them off the street,” a resident named Alana said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Yonkers Police Detective Division at (914) 377-7724.
