Woman's body found in waters between Brooklyn, Governors Island: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman’s body was found in the waters between Brooklyn and Governors Island on Thursday, police said. 

Police responding to a 911 call around 1:40 p.m. found the woman unconscious and unresponsive in Buttermilk Channel, which runs past Red Hook and the Columbia Street Waterfront District in Brooklyn, the NYPD said.

The woman was taken to the Atlantic Ferry Basin Dock, where she was pronounced dead, police said. 

The woman’s name and age weren’t immediately released. The Medical Examiner’s office will determine how she died.
