NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The woman who scaled the Statue of Liberty on the 4th of July was in court on Friday.

Therese Patricia Okoumou was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Her attorney Ron Kuby said it's yet to be determined if there will be a prison sentence.

The three hour protest and standoff with police resulted in the evacuation of visitors from Liberty Island.

Okoumou has launched an online petition calling on the Manhattan federal prosecutor to drop the charges. It's picked up more than 1,200 signatures.

Her next court appearance will be in October.
