NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Cops are looking for a guy accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn on Sunday night.

It was just before midnight on St. John's Place when a man approached a woman, asked if she had a lighter, and then followed her into her building where he pushed her down and sexually assaulted the woman in a hallway before running off.

Community Advocate Tony Herbert praised police and asked the public to look at the surveillance video and help.

"So it's my hope that the folks in our community that are very alert and very astute to what's going on, they get a chance to see this, to say hey you know what, I know who this is, I've seen this guy and let's get him off the street," he said.

Women who live in the neighborhood were visibly shaken.

"I feel very bad for whoever that happens to," one woman said.

"It's very unnerving," another added.

The suspect is described as male, black or Hispanic, with medium to dark complexion. He is 5'7", and weighs 175-200lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded shirt, Adidas track pants, and black sneakers.
