NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – One woman was hacked to death, another was severely injured and a young child was apparently spared in a brutal attack in Brooklyn Saturday, police say.

The violent hacking attack at the Bushwick Houses happened while the 4-year-old daughter of one of the two women was in another room.

There are multiple reports that an axe was the weapon used in the attack.

No arrests have been made as the investigation continues, police say.

Officers responded to an apartment building on Flushing Avenue around 1:30 a.m. after the woman who was injured hailed an Uber and the driver called 911.

Police say they found a 20-something-year-old woman in the living room nearly decapitated and with multiple stab wounds to both her head and body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old had cuts to her head and body, police say. She was able to flag down a passing Uber and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical but stable condition.

The young daughter of the 21-year-old woman was found unharmed inside a bedroom in the apartment, according to police.

She was taken to Woodhull Hospital for evaluation and observation.

Police are investigating whether an axe found in a trash compactor was the murder weapon.
