Woman hospitalized after hit in the chest by stray bullet in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A stray bullet that shot through the window hit a woman inside of her Brooklyn home Wednesday night, police say.

Officials say the incident happened shortly after 11 p.m.inside a four-story building at 369 Linden Boulevard in East Flatbush.

The woman was standing in the living room and heard the shots before realizing she was hit.

Investigators don't believe the 57-year-old victim was the intended target.

The victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital and treated for a single bullet wound to the chest.

She is reportedly in serious, but stable condition.

"They got my building on lockdown, one resident said. "We got to get questioned coming in and out the building."

The police are also focusing on a car parked in front of the building with mulitple bullet holes in it.

The shooter is still at large and no description is available.
