NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a potential hit-and-run driver after a woman was found dying at a busy intersection in Brooklyn Saturday morning.

The woman was found unconscious near the busy intersection of Atlantic and Pennsylvania avenues in Cypress Hills around 4:30 a.m., police said.

The victim, said to be in her 40s, was discovered with severe head trauma and pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital after going into cardiac arrest.

Police said they're investigating the crash as a potential hit-and-run because the woman was found at the intersection. But it's unclear if there's evidence she was struck by a vehicle.

Residents tell 1010 WINS that it’s a dangerous intersection and that accidents are common.

“They’re trying to make it better, but it’s a very busy intersection,” Leslie said.

James said that despite the presence of red-light cameras, drivers don’t always stop.

“I know it’s a dangerous intersection, because every time the light turns red people are trying to go through it,” he said.
