NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The probe into an Upper West Side homicide is focused on a resident of the same apartment building.

Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea wouldn't get into motive, or say whether Susan Trott's penchant for feeding pigeons or taking in animals was an issue in the building, but a female neighbor is under investigation -- her apartment is just a few floors away from the victim's.

"Two seperate apartments in the building; one where the deceased lived, one where the person of interest resides," he said.

Police found Trott's body in the bedroom fully clothed, with her throat cut. There was a trail of blood that began in the living room. Security cameras did not show any outside visitors.

Trott was known to neighbors as a dog lover.

"She loved sad dogs. Rescued, adored them and took good care of them," neighbor Helen Stein said.

Neighbors say Trott was also actively trying to beautify her building, ABC7 reports. They said she was in chargeof gardening.
