Woman arrested for leaving 2-year-old boy in hot car on Long Island

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Thursday arrested a Long Island woman for leaving a 2-year-old boy in the backseat of an unlocked running vehicle.

The incident took place at 12:25 p.m. at a parking lot at Carmens Plaza.

Officials said a witness spotted the child who was sleeping in the vehicle with the air conditioner running.

An ambulance responded to the scene and found the child to be unharmed after an evaluation.

About 10 minutes later,  police arrested 25-year-old Reina Carrion, 25, after she left the DMV office at the plaza.

The child was taken by a family friend.

Carrion was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
