Woman Accused Of Ditching Daughter After Ozone Park Crash

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Cops in Queens say a woman crashed her car into a light pole, and then into the gate of a junior high school in Ozone Park, before running off. That might sound pretty bad, but the story gets a lot worse.

It happened in the middle of the Wednesday night rush hour.

Malika George, 25, was at the wheel. She allegedly got out of the car, handed her 1-year-old daughter to a stranger, and said 'I'm going to get arrested now.'

Diana Velazquez was watching from her apartment.

"She had the baby dangling off of her arm, dangling down, some lady comes over grabs the baby, because you know in the midst of everything you probably assume the baby got hurt," she said.

The girl wasn't hurt, but she was taken to Jamaica Hospital to be cared for. That's where George eventually turned herself in to police.

George was eventually booked on a number of charges including child endangerment and driving without a license.
