Woman, 65, fatally struck in Brooklyn hit-and-run

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police say a hit-and-run crash killed a 65-year-old woman in Brooklyn Wednesday evening.

The incident occured at approximately 5:00 p.m. near Emmons Avenue and Ocean Avenue in Sheepshead Bay.

Police say the victim was attempting to cross Ocean Avenue when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle making a right turn.

The vehicle then fled the scene officials say.

Upon arrival, authorities found the woman suffered severe trauma to the body.

She taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/ Coney Island where she was pronounced dead.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

Ocean Avenue was closed in the area for the investigation.

So far no arrests have been made and no details have been released yet about the vehicle that fled the scene.
