NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New Yorkers have spoken! The DMV has announced that Plate five is the winning design and will become the license plate next year.

A statewide survey announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo in August allowed New York State residents to select one of the five designs they wanted to become the next license plate.

The design chosen includes images of the NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty on the right and the Adirondack Mountains and Niagara Falls on the left hand side.

The new license plates will be available in April 2020.

Four of the five choices had images of the Statue of Liberty and included the state's motto, "Excelsior," on them. The other design had a photo of the new Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
