WFAN In Talks To Bring Mike Francesa Back

April 24, 2018 - 3:33 pm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- He's back!

After retiring four months ago, Mike Francesa is apparently heading back to WFAN.

"WFAN confirms that we are in ongoing discussions with Mike Francesa about the possibility of him returning to the station," WFAN said in a statement Tuesday. "We also confirm that we are very proud of our current lineup at WFAN and that any potential future engagement with Mike will not result in any talent departures. As a matter of policy, we do not comment on pending negotiations and have nothing further to add at this moment."

Mike left the station in December after 30 years on the air and had a lengthy farewell tribute.

Francessa is expected to be on the air from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays, according to earlier published reports. The team that took his place, Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray and Bart Scott will not be let go, but will be used in a different capacity.

Carlin said on air Tuesday, "All stories seem to be pointing to Mike returning and that certainly appears to be the case, but all we can tell you is this: We're not going anywhere. We're going to be a big part of this radio station for a long time."
WFAN is the sister station of 1010 WINS.
