We tried Starbucks' new Instagram-friendly Tie-Dye Frappuccino

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Starbucks is feelin' groovy -- for the next five days at least.

It launched on Wednesday its Tie-Dye Frappaccino, which will only be available for five days.

The coffee chain's newest creation follows in the footsteps of the Unicorn Frappuccino, another colorful, Instagram-friendly beverage. 

"We wanted to create something that celebrates summer and really conveys it both visually and through flavor within the beverage," drink creator Paloma Carrington-Bataller said in a statement. "It's summer in a cup and something everyone can relate to; it takes you back to sunny warm days of summer spent at camp or with friends and family."

"It's bright and colorful and fun and should bring a smile to your face," added Carrington-Bataller. "Perfect for the heydays of summer."

So how does the drink measure up?

1010 WINS's David Caplan and Walter Geis were up for the task, and served as our guinea pics, errr, taste testers. Here's what they had to say:

Geis (below, right): "I gotta say I liked the Tie-Dye Frap better than some of the other creations over the last couple years at Starbucks. It tasted like peace and love. I could taste some banana, maybe some pear. It was fruity but not too overpowering and the vanilla whipped cream was a perfect compliment."

Caplan (below, left): "It definitely was not as colorful and tie-dyish as those in Starbucks' photos, so that was a bit disappointing. It was basically yellow-greenish with colorful sprinkles on top. As for the taste, I agree with Walter: It tasted like banana. Not bad if you want that taste. Would I get it again? Meh, probably not. But it does make for a great Instagram pic!"
