WATCH: Toms River fishermen encounter great white shark off Jersey shore

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Thirty miles off the Manasquan Inlet, the captain and crew of a fishing boat had a jaw-to-jaw encounter with a great white shark.

Captain Jack Freely shot video as the 18-foot 3,000 pound Great White opened its massive mouth.

Captain Jeff Crilly told CBS2, “I think it could’ve easily, if it wanted to, slid into the boat.”

Crew member Steve Minkema said, “You’re there. You have no choice, so what are you gonna do? Just enjoy the moment.”

The sighting came after a 13-hour day at sea.

The men are part of a week-long fishing compettion and plan to be back on the water every day for the remainder of the week.
