NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An official with the Department of Housing and Urban Development has been spending a month in NYCHA buildings to see first hand what the conditions are like.

Today, Lynne Patton became stuck in an elevator at the Douglas Houses.

She was accompanied by a number of reporters and photographers at the time, and said on Facebook Live that they'd probably overloaded the elevator.

"I will be honest and say it was probably our fault, but this stuff happens all the time at NYCHA," she said, "They are overloaded all the time, they are stuck all the time."

Patton's tour began earlier this month in the Patterson Houses, where residents were skeptical of her intentions.

“Anything from Trump I don't trust. I don't think she wants to help." Carline Campbell said.

NYCHA buildings have struggled with heat and hot water issues as well as lead paint for many years.
