NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — CNN anchor Chris Cuomo fought back against an individual who calls him “Fredo” in a video posted to social media Monday.

Caution: Tweets and video contain expletives.

Cuomo responds angrily to the man who appears to be calling him “Fredo” referring to Fredo Corleone, the incompetent son of Vito Corleone in The Godfather.

“No, punk-a-- b-tches from the right call me Fredo,” says Cuomo in the video, “My name is Chris Cuomo. I’m an anchor on CNN. Fredo is from ‘The Godfather.’ He was that weak brother, and using it is an Italian aspersion."

“Are you Italian?" Cuomo asks. “It’s a f---ing insult to your people ... it’s like the N-word for us.”

The video was posted on Twitter by Ryan Saavedra, a reporter with the conservative website The Daily Wire.

He says the video was posted on Sunday.

The main claims that he actually believed Cuomo’s name was Fredo, and that he had not meant it as an aspersion.

Cuomo urges him to own up to it, and when the man asks what he’s going to do about it, Cuomo says, “I’ll f---ing ruin your sh-t, man. I’ll f---ing throw you down these stairs like a f---ing punk.”

Cuomo is the son of former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo and the brother of current Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo wrote on Twitter, "Appreciate all the support but - truth is I should be better than the guys baiting me. This happens all the time these days. Often in front of my family. But there is a lesson: no need to add to the ugliness; I should be better than what I oppose."

CNN spokesman Matt Dornic said in a statement, “Chris Cuomo defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur in an orchestrated setup.  We completely support him.”

Fox News host Sean Hannity tweeted his support for Cuomo writing, "He’s out with his 9 year old daughter, and his wife, and this guy is being a jackass in front of his family. Imho Chris Cuomo has zero to apologize for. He deserves the apology."
