"A nice down to earth gentlemen..." -- that’s the kind of guy 70-something Esther Guss says she is in the market for. But there’s not a lot of fish in the sea in her Manhattan Beach neighborhood.

So now her son, Marc, is willing to pay big bucks to find her Mr. Right.

"Putting a $10,000 reward out there might seem outrageous," he told 1010 WINS. "It actually was done to get people’s attention, and it certainly has."

The response from Marc’s admittedly drastic Facebook outreach has been overwhelming. He's vetting the suitors, and his mom is enthusiastic and excited about the prospects.

"I know my son is very busy, but he can do anything," Esther said. "He always comes up with good ideas, and I trust him … He’s very good natured ... He just wants me to be happy."

Esther, a Holocaust survivor, met her husband, George, when they came to the U.S. after World War II. George died in 1986. Later on, she was with a partner for many years. He passed away three years ago.

"She's really looking for a down to earth, regular, not over the top, not under the bottom, but someone who treats her well who is respectful, who is a nice guy who just wants to have a companion as much as she wants to have a companion," Marc said.

Esther has tried traditional dating sites for years. Marc has even kept expensive professional matchmakers on retainer. The inventory just isn't available, he says.

"The people in her age category they didn’t seem to be in any kind of a hurry to find a match, and there were people in her age category who were looking for someone who might be 30-40 years younger," he said.

To get paid, both parties just need to agree they're in a committed relationship. A ring isn’t necessary, but Esther wouldn’t refuse one either.

"I'm up for anything if it’s my right match ... You never know."
