NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Walmart has begun digitizing its stores and the company's intelligent retail lab is officially up and running on Thursday at the Levittown location.

Officials say they've installed cameras and artificial intelligence aid workers to help manage the store.

For example, a camera above a table of bananas will monitor their color and watch for bruising.

It would then alert workers to inspect them.

Walmart envisions using technology like sensors on shelves to monitor the store in real time, allowing its workers to quickly react and be able to replenish products or fix other issues.
