Vigil held for pedestrian killed in Hamilton Heights hit-and-run

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A vigil was held last night in Hamilton Heights to remember 26-year-old Erica Imbasciani, an aspiring artist killed in a hit-and-run last Friday night.

Police say the driver was high on drugs when he slammed into Imbasciani at 141st Street and Amsterdam Avenue.

City Councilman Mark Levine told ABC7 that it was a dangerous intersection, “"There's on average 100 accidents a year. I've been in office for five years and there's been five lives taken from us on just this stretch of Amsterdam."

The Department of Transportation says they’ve had plans to redesign that stretch of Amsterdam Avenue for two years now but those plans were voted down by the community board.
