VIDEO: Man in medical mask sucker-punches NYPD officer

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Video posted by a police union shows a man in a medical mask sucker-punching an NYPD officer in the Bronx Tuesday.

The officer was punched as he detained a man at 183rd Street and Davidson Avenue in University Heights, video from the Sergeants Benevolent Association shows.

The officer was reportedly standing over a robbery suspect while another officer was holding down the suspect when he was punched in the back of the head by the man in a medical mask.

Video then shows the attacker running away down the street as police chase him.

Police sources told the New York Post that 31-year-old Nelson Jimenez was arrested in a bodega nearby. He was awaiting charges Tuesday night.

The sources told the Post that a second officer was also punched in the head near the scene. A 25-year-old, Brandee Isom, was charged with assault and obstructing governmental administration in that attack, according to the Post.
