NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- NYPD released a video that shows a gunman's weapon jam as he attempts to shoot a woman outside of her South Ozone Park, Queens home.

Police say that on Friday July 19, at approximately 6:40 p.m., at a residence on 109 Street and 109 Avenue, a male approached a 45-year-old woman, drew a handgun and attempted to discharge it at her.

The suspect struggled with the gun and stepped back for a few seconds.

After the handgun did not fire a second time, the suspect fled on foot southbound on 109 Street and then westbound on 109 Avenue officials say.

The jammed gun may have saved the woman from death, police said.

Police are now searching for the suspect who they described as a balck male, last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jean shorts, black socks, black "Nike" slides, and he had a black shirt wrapped around his head.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
