NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD sent out an alert Thursday to all precincts of a "credible threat" against officers in the Bronx, specifically the 41st Precinct, where officers came under attack this weekend, according to a police union.

The Sergeants Benevolent Association posted to Twitter what purports to be a photo of the internal memo about the warning.

"WARNING - MUST READ NYPD COPS ASSASSINATION THREAT- the attached notice has been distributed throughout NYPD Commands. REMAIN ALERT - respond with back up on all 9/11 calls," reads the tweet.

The memo reads, "INVESTIGATIVE UNITS HAVE RECEIVED A CREDIBLE THREAT OF AN INDIVIDUAL THAT MAY ATTEMPT TO SHOOT A NYPD MOS, IN PARTICULAR, A 41 PCT MOS. ALL MOS ARE BEING ADVISED TO BE VIGILANT AND ALERT. STATIONHOUSE SECURITY MUST BE POSTED ON ALL TOURS. PLEASE ADVISE ALL MOS AND CONTINUE TO READ THIS MESSAGE AT ROLL CALLS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.”

MOS stands for member of service.

The Detectives' Endowment Association, also tweeted, "STAY VIGILANT NYPD: We are not targets! Do what you are trained to do when you are met with deadly physical force. *STOP THE THREAT* Detectives, watch your backs and the backs of fellow officers — and the DEA will watch yours."

During a 12-hour period, from Saturday night into Sunday morning, two police officers were shot.

A gunman initially shot at two officers, wounding one, as they sat in their marked police van in the Bronx. Then a man -- possible the same individual -- later walked into the 41st Precinct and opened fire, wounding another officer.
