Union reports 1st NYC mailman to die from coronavirus

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Bronx mailman has become the city's first known mailman to die from the coronavirus, his labor union confirms.

Rakkhon Kim, 50, worked at a post office in the West Farms, section of the Bronx and died from complications of the disease on Wednesday, the National Association of Letter Carriers said in a release.

Kim, resided in New Jersey and worked as a postman for 23-years, according to NALC.

“On behalf of the NALC, we mourn the loss of Brother Kim,” NALC President Fredric Rolando said in a statement.

“We send our deepest sympathies and heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Rakkhon’s family, loved ones, friends and co-workers.“
