A deadly fire in Union City has claimed the life of a fourth child.

Fifth Child Dies Days After Union City Fire

UNION CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that a fifth child, 4-year-old Shamira Lopez has died at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from her injuries suffered in last Friday's fire in Union City.

Two people remain hospitalized in stable condition.

On Monday, it was announced that 13-year-old Jose Felipe Tejada had died.

Three other children; Mailyn Wood, 5, her 2-year-old cousin Jason Gonzalez, and Gonzalez's 7-year-old brother Christian died at the hospital hours after the fire.

"It is a very difficult day for Union City. I continue to pray for the victims and their families and offer any resources I can to assist them. I am extremely thankful for the efforts of our first responders who gave their all under extremely difficult circumstances." Union City Mayor Brian Stack said.

Authorities say they know the cause of the fire, but declined to reveal it due to the ongoing investigation.
