Two dead after shooting inside Astoria home

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A shooting in Astoria, Queens has left two people dead, and a third injured.

Two people were found dead, another wounded after shots were heard just before 7 a.m. inside a house on 77th Street.

The wounded man was an off-duty Yonkers cop. NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said it appears the ex-boyfriend of the cop's girlfriend confronted them and used the cop's gun on the woman and himself.

"The numbers that we can see at this time on the serial number match up to the off-duty officer's weapon," he said.

Detectives are trying to sort out what exactly happened, but cops suspect the ex-boyfriend had been there earlier in the week, keying the officer's car.

Neighbors called the shooting a tragedy.
