From a twerking mom to a painting pig: Stories that made us smile this week

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- From a mom celebrating her daughter's college acceptance to a farm animal who loves fine art- Let’s take a look back on the week that was.

This mom has good reason to celebrate, after she got a huge surprise from her daughter. Promise was accepted into Grambling State University, where she will major in criminal psychology. 

A talented rescue pig has raised over $145,000 for her farm sanctuary with her abstract expressionist artwork. 

An appeal was made for Texans to attend the funeral of Specialist Hugh Gary Bryan, who had no next-of-kin, was a success.

This stuffed animal went on a beary big adventure, after its five-year-old owner accidentally left it behind while visiting Myrtle Beach State Park. Once Thompson McDaniel got home, his family called the park to check up on the teddy bear. And luckily they still had it.

After spending most of her life crawling and walking on her knees, Birkeley, who has cerebral palsy, recently took her first steps. The short stroll was pure joy for the Colorado 11-year-old, who is also nearly deaf. She had been doing physical therapy for years to try and learn to walk.
