NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced on Friday that they would step forward with a plan to have its own memorial after the 9/11 Memorial and Museum announced on their website the 'Tribute in Light,' to commemorate the thousands of victims during the terrorist attack on Sept. 11 was canceled this year due to concerns over worker safety during the coronavirus pandemic.

The foundation's CEO Frank Siller told 1010 WINS they've "already secured the lights" at a location near the World Trade Center and will make sure the names of the 9/11 victims will be read.

According to Siller, he tried working with the 9/11 Memorial and Museum but they declined.

"A lot of people work together in New York City, there's construction sites going on right now that have a lot more than the amount of people that it's gonna take to put these lights on," Siller said.
