Trump supports shift to permanent daylight saving time

March 11, 2019 - 12:21 pm

WASHINGTON (1010 WINS) -- Some people think it would be a good idea to make daylight saving time permanent. President Donald Trump is one of them.

Supporters of the idea argue that the human body never truly adjusts to the time change from setting the clocks back and forth every six months.

Three lawmakers from Florida, Senators Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and Congressman Vern Buchanan introduced the 'Sunshine Protection Act' last week to leave daylight saving time in place all year round.

Federal law allows states to permanently opt into standard time, but the reverse requires congressional action.
