Trump Hints At More Cabinet Moves After Tillerson Firing

March 14, 2018 - 1:00 pm

WASHINGTON D.C. (1010 WINS) -- Tuesday's firing of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson may not be the last personnel move the president makes.

When President Donald Trump headed for California and explained why he fired Tillerson, he also indicated that he might also have other cabinet changes in mind.

"We're getting very close to having the cabinet and other things that I want," he said.

There are reports the president is thinking of having Energy Secretary Rick Perry takeover at the Veterans Administration where David Shulkin has come under fire within the agency, and for using taxpayer money for his wife's airfare for an overseas trip.

Shulkin is one of several cabinet members who have made headlines in recent weeks for the wrong reasons.

Sources told CNN that National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster could be on his way out, and that advisers to the president have been feeling out possible replacements for Chief Of Staff John Kelly.

CNN and the Washington Post reported Wednesday, that Trump was set to name CNBC commentator Larry Kudlow as his top economic advisor to fill a role left vacnat by Gary Cohn.

People familiar with the situation told the Washington Post that Kudlow had accepted an offer from Trump to lead the White House's National Economic Council.

Kudlow, a New Jersey native, has been an informal Trump adviser.
