NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – President Donald Trump said the coronavirus pandemic is the “worst attack” in United States history as he doubled down on his criticism of China.

“We went through the worst attack we've ever had on our country, this is really the worst attack we've ever had,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Wednesday.

“This is worse than Pearl Harbor. This is worse than the World Trade Center. There's never been an attack like this,” Trump said.

“And it should have never happened,” the president said. “Could've been stopped at the source. Could've been stopped in China. It should've been stopped right at the source. And it wasn't.”

According to the BBC, a reporter asked Trump if he considered the outbreak an act of war. The president said he saw the virus itself “as a war.”

“I view the invisible enemy as a war,” Trump said. “I don't like how it got here, because it could have been stopped, but no, I view the invisible enemy like a war.”
