NEW YORK (1010 WINS/AP) – President Trump attacked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Jerry Nadler and other Democrats as “savages” as Congress begins an impeachment investigation.

“Can you imagine if these Do Nothing Democrat Savages, people like Nadler, Schiff, AOC Plus 3, and many more, had a Republican Party who would have done to Obama what the Do Nothings are doing to me,” Trump tweeted Saturday morning. “Oh well, maybe next time!”

Trump followed up the tweet with: “PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!”

The president appeared to be referring to the "Squad," a group of Democratic congresswomen made up of AOC, as well as Reps. Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib.

AOC responded on Twitter a short time later: “To be honest, it should really be @AyannaPressley plus 3 since she is *easily* the best singer out of all of us. I’m just the one holding the wind fan.”

Nadler also responded on Twitter, writing: “Don’t let the President change the subject. He got caught soliciting a foreign leader for help with his campaign at the expense of U.S. national security. Again.”

House Democrats recently took their first concrete steps in the impeachment investigation of Trump, issuing subpoenas demanding documents from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and scheduling legal depositions for other State Department officials.

At the end of a stormy week of revelation and recrimination, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi framed the impeachment inquiry as a somber moment for a divided nation.

Trump, for his part, insisted anew that his actions and words have been "perfect" and the whistleblower's complaint about his comments to the leader of Ukraine might well be the work of "a partisan operative."
