NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Trinity Church is partially closed for two years to undergo renovation.

Fans of Alexander Hamilton can still visit his gravesite which is on church grounds.

The historic church will be getting 140 new seats, improved disability access, and a modern infrastructure.

Stained-glass windows and flooring will also be restored and the acoustics and lighting will be revamped in the $98 million project.

Rev. Phil Jackson brought 1010 WINS' Juliet Papa inside for a sneak peek.

"One of the things we discovered by going through this hatch is that some of the original marble -- that's original marble -- is still underneath here," he said.

Visiting tourists like John from Minnesota realized they came a day late.

"Yeah we would have like to see it. We just came from St. Paul's Chapel, we thought this would be nice to see also," he said.

He was thrilled with the walk through the cemetery and a stop at the grave of Alexander Hamilton.
