Torrential rain causes flooding, scattered outages throughout the area
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Wednesday night's torrential rain caused flooding and scattered power outages throughout the area.
There were reports of flooding everywhere including the inside of some train stations in the Bronx.
A video on Twitter shows the water rushing down the stairs at a Bronx subway station.

The floods caused the Garden State Parkway to close in multiple locations -- one driver in Woodbridge says it was like driving on a river.

The Bronx River Parkway and parts of the Long Island Expressway were also underwater.
Outages were reported in the five boroughs as well as Long Island and Westchester.
A tourist posted a video on YouTube of the downpour in Time Square.
PSEG LI said 782 outages occurred on Long Island with almost 600 of them in Nassau County.
There were over three thousand homes in the five boroughs with outages according to Con ED with 783 of them in the Bronx and 133 in Brooklyn.
Approximately 1,359 power outages were reported in Westchester.
PSEG NJ had more than four thousand outages with 251 in Essex and 262 of them reported in Middlesex.
