Thousands dance through streets of Manhattan in annual parade

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Thousands of dancers hit the streets of Manhattan on Saturday for the 13th annual Dance Parade & Festival.

Billed as the “world’s largest display of cultural diversity,” the energetic parade featured dancers from a wide swath of cultures across the globe.

The event, which kicked off at 21st Street and Broadway, included Tinkus, Brazilian zouk, breakdance, Chinese, contemporary, hip-hop, Irish, Indonesian, Jamaican Dancae Hall, lindy hop, modern, roller disco, salsa, samba, Tahitian and tango.

Some 10,000 dancers made their way down Broadway, sporting an array of colors and styles.

“Dance is truly a universal language and the Parade and DanceFest really is a Movement of the People,” said Greg Miller, the Dance Parade’s executive director.
