Tenants Forced Out Of Bowery Building Say Landlord Tossed Personal Possessions

April 12, 2018 - 7:54 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Tenants who were forced out of an apartment building in Chinatown earlier this year were probably happy to hear that repair work is finally underway.

They were not happy to hear that the landlord was tossing their possessions into a construction dumpster.

Residents of 83 and 85 Bowery were spotted foraging through trash bags and pulling out personal effects.

The tenants have been living in a hotel since they were forced out of the building. They claim the landlord allowed it to deteriorate so he could tear it down and build something new, like condos or a hotel. A spokesman for the landlord denied the claim.
