BEVERLY, MA (1010 WINS) -- A teenaged pilot on her first ever solo flight was forced to make an emergency landing.

Maggie Taraska, 17, was at her local airport in Beverly, Massachusetts heading for Portland, Maine when her aircraft lost a wheel.

"My heart just sunk and I didn't know if I'd be able to do it, and I didn't know if I'd be making it down safely," she said.

She told ABC News she had done emergency procedures before, but not one for losing landing gear.

A pilot on the ground saw the wheel fall from the plane and contacted the control tower, and Taraska's flight instructor walked her through the safe landing.
