NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 36-year-old Tae Kwon Do instructor has been charged with first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly having sexual contact and intercourse with a 12-year-old female student at a Tae Kwon Do studio in Sunnyside according to an announcement from Queens Acting District Attorney John Ryan.

Hector Quinchi of Woodside, is accused of fondling and raping a preteen student who took lessons from him at Hugo’s Tae Kwon Do Studio at 50-14 Skillman Ave.

On multiple occasions between August 15, 2019 through and October 5, 2019, Quinchi allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the victim and on October 5, 2019, had sex with the preteen girl, according to Ryan.

“The parents of this youngster trusted the defendant to teach the girl how to defend herself,” said Acting District Attorney John M. Ryan. “Sadly, the preteen needed protection from the karate instructor.”

The incidents took place at the school according to reports.

Quinchi now faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted and currently awaits arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.

Officials ask any parent who believes their child may have been victimized by Quinchi to call the NYPD Child Abuse Squad at (718) 261-2737.
