Suspect in Junior Guzman killing slashed by Rikers inmate

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One of the suspects charged in the killing of Junior Guzman was attacked and suffered a slash wound to his face at Rikers Island on Tuesday.

The Daily News says 18-year-old Manuel Rivera was attacked by 21-year-old Tyreek Johnson. Johnson is a reported member of the Bloods, he's in jail on murder charges.

The jail went into lockdown after the incident.

Fifteen suspects have been charged in the machete killing of Junior Guzman outside of a bodega in the Bronx in June.

The Daily News reports, the Correction Department has tried to move all of the alleged killers out of city jails for their own protection, but only two have been accepted.

Elvin Garcia, 23, and Kevin Alvarez, 19, are being held in Riverhead Correctional Facility on Long Island.
