Survey: Rat Complaints On The Rise In Brooklyn, Manhattan

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New Yorkers have had it with the rats.

According to a new survey by RentHop.com, complaints to 311 about rodents have risen 10 percent in the last year.

That's actually down from a 30 percent spike in calls in the two years prior, nevertheless Brooklyn had more than 7,200 complaints and Manhattan about 4,500.

The worst neighborhoods were Bed Stuy, Harlem, and the Upper West Side.

The City Health Department said the number of complaints doesn't necessarily mirror the problem, but they do send an inspector whenever they get a complaint.

Earlier this yeaar the mayor announced a plan to get rid of rats in public housing.
